The Tianjin University School of Architecture and Chinese media company, Urban Environmental Design (UED), have launched the eighth edition of the 2019 UIA-HYP Cup, an annual, open international competition for architecture students from all over the world. The competition is organised with the support of the UIA.
COMPETITION THEME
Created in 2012, the overall theme of this annual competition is architecture in transformation. For the2019 edition, Benedetta Tagliabue, jury chair, has chosen the topic «Happy Spaces — Integrating Architecture and Landscape».
«Architects can change people’s environment and influence their future in a positive way. They can create “happy spaces” that contribute to people’s well-being,» explained Ms. Tagliabue.
Participants can choose the location of their projects in a degraded urban area, preferably on the periphery (anywhere in the world). The site shall include a construction area and its environment. It must improve the environment and benefit the surrounding community. |
